Metro Water Security

How reliable is the water system?
Metro Water ensures that quality water flows from the tap. A Capital Improvement Program has made numerous improvements to increase the dependability of its overall infrastructure.

How safe is my drinking water?
Metro Water meets all federal and state drinking water standards. Metro spends more than $150,000 a year in the regular testing of 124 different constituents. In addition, chlorine is added to the water as an extra protection.

How secure is the water system?
Since September 2001, Metro Water has increased its vigilance of its water system and enhanced security efforts have been implemented at our various sites.

Could I experience disruptions in my water service?
Not likely but it is possible if there is an un-expected main break or an electrical outage. However, with our experienced staff, main breaks are quickly repaired. To avoid dependency upon electricity, Metro has made many improvements to increase the likelihood that water will flow even when there is an electrical outage. This includes adding auxiliary power at key well sites, using gravity flow for new transmission mains, and better interconnection of the overall system.
